Only gave a 3 based on customer service. Love the store and great sales but the cashiers need an attitude adjustment. Today there was a young man at the register, no smile no pleasant greeting and worst of all didn't give my dog a treat, he expects a treat when we go in. Usually there's an older lady there who is just rude and argumentative. She acts like your bothering her. Other people on the floor are usually helpfull but 1 gentleman one scoffed at me because I asked if they could crimp something.

We came in to spend $2,000+ on a new utility trailer and was told abruptly by a red-haired woman that we weren’t even to be looking at them at this time because they’re not for sale. This AFTER the first Gentleman sent us back there to look. Get it together people! Additionally, poor customer service! You should never speak to anyone like that!!!!

My experience working here has been disappointing and frustrating, primarily due to issues that could easily be improved with better communication and management. There is a clear breakdown in communication between corporate and the stores, as well as within corporate itself. This disconnect causes regular confusion, particularly around special orders and backhaul logistics, leaving employees to navigate challenges without the support we need.

The Carson location, in particular, has been neglected in ways that affect daily operations and morale. It’s clear that this store requires more attention and resources from corporate to address the issues that repeatedly come up.

Training is another major concern. After removing the RanchHouse training system, there has been no effective replacement, leaving gaps in preparation that set employees up for mistakes. This lack of structured training makes it difficult for employees to perform tasks confidently, especially for those new to complex and safety-sensitive duties.

Compensation is also an issue. Starting wages are low, considering the physical demands of the job, which involve lifting heavy loads, operating forklifts, and handling propane. Despite completing training for these tasks, employees are rarely given the promised raises, leaving them to feel undervalued despite the skill and effort required in this role. My only raises were minimal and associated with department changes, which is discouraging.

Finally, corporate’s approach to implementing new systems and software is problematic. Changes are often rolled out without proper planning or training, causing disruption and making a challenging work environment even more difficult.

Overall, I would not recommend this company until it takes steps to improve communication, provide adequate training, and follow through on promises related to compensation. These improvements would not only benefit employees but also enhance customer service and overall operations.

Store looked terrible. Bags of merchandise outside open and all over the place. Outside landscape dead and withered. Shelves missing stock. What has happened to this location is sad. Was a jewel. We travel to go to it. Whatever has happened it’s not good. No one at gun counter.

I’m sick of this store. Every time I come in here to buy propane, it’s one of numerous excuses: “we’re out of propane, it’s broken, there’s nobody here that can do it, we’re closing in 10 minutes.“ I really want to be able to support local business but literally every time I come here to buy propane I get turned away and it’s frustrating to the point where I’m not going to come back. Just being honest.

Kaleb at the Gun counter was so patient with me all trying to get my fishing license figured out because the place I bought it the previous year entered my information wrong. He said he would stay there all night with me if needed to figure it out because I had a fishing trip the next day got an awesome deal on some dog toys too.

By far the rudest cashier I have ever encountered. First you don't want to honor the sale as advertised. Then have the worst attitude you could possibly have. Then calling me "bro" like it's supposed to make me feel better. Had to call for instructions on how to handle a sale but then claim to be the manager. If she's the manager, this store is in trouble. This lady actually told me that it's ok because she can be a much bigger pain in the a$$ than I can after I politely apologized for asking her to do her job. I am absolutely stunned by the horrible attitude and treatment from this person. Cal ranch carson city has lost my business permanently. I can't believe they let their employees treat Customers like that.

This is the best place to get your propane tanks filled. The best price and easy service. Just pull up to the filing area on the left side of the store and ring the bell. The attendant will be out soon and fill you up. Easiest place to go and fill your tanks.
