Excellent service with fitting my tester skis and boots rental.

Fitted by a ski-pro! That gave us extreme confidence taking their recommendations for ski trial selection. After taking to the slopes we can really appreciate the insight to make not so great snow conditions a Way better skiing experience.

They had a large ski sale being the end of winter. They also offer the rental equipment for a discount at the the end of season.

This is the spot for skis. Nice selection of apparel and other mountain survival gear in case you get snowed in Truckee!

They host a film contest in a few weeks that is open for submissions. We can’t wait to check it out.

I was with my buddy and I had 450 dollars to spend on some new drip! Then I took a picture to send to the huzz and one of the workers said, “I’m embarrassed for you” what the hell! I was sad and me and my friend went outside and cried. I saw a cool jacket I wanted to buy which it was overpriced for 400 dollars but I wanted it. But after getting BULLIED by a worker I left empty handed and I’m giving my business to someone else. Thank you. This happened at around 1:45 12/27/24

Went to Granite Chief at the start of this season to fix some fit issues I was having with my ski boots. Despite probably having bought some boots that were too big for me, the folks at Granite Chief were super courteous in taking the time to try multiple solutions to really nail the fit, and also provide some boot education for the future.

After now skiing a full week in my re-fitted boots, the difference is massive, with full heel lock and no shin/foot pain. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone who is looking for a boot fitter (or to buy the right new boots)!

Granite Chief has been providing excellent ski repair service, clothing, soft goods, boot fitting, and equipment for over 30 years. I consistently go back to buy items, get work done on my skis, etc. I stopped in last week for a pair of trailing running shoes and was impressed with the Altra Olympus 5. I absolutely love this shoe! Best trail running shoe I've ever had. They expertly explained the benefits and features of this shoe. Herb and the whole staff are great! Pet the dog while you're there.

Always top notch service whether I need ski tuning, boot fitting or new planks. Recently I was suffering from some discomfort in my ski boots. John Clausen is an excellent boot fitter and did a stellar job rectifying my issues. A local shop with the knowledge and skill is a huge asset.

I have been buying boots, skis, and stylish ski and mountain lifestyle clothing at Granite Chief since 1987. Herb and Treas take care of their customers and provide excellent service. I have had boots fitted by Gunner Wolf and the team over the past 30 years. Having a Master Boot Fitter for my challenging feet when fitting ski boots is very important to me. The entire team of boot fitters is excellent including Darren, John, and Matt. Darren took care of a my friend Neil's daughter Christmas 2022 when she was having terrible pain from the new ski boots that she had purchased in Seattle. I told them to go to Granite Chief and they would be taken care of. Darron made here laugh and he fixed the boot issues. The store is beautiful and well stocked with gear and clothing, and Ansel the Golden Retriever might greet you with a tail wag.

I can’t rave enough about Granite Chief.. if I could give them 10 stars, I would! They not only have amazing customer service and fast shipping, but the employees (and owners) are all very personable. I typically order online but I love going in the store whenever I am able to - always a great experience in there. Thank you Granite Chief!! Keep doin’ your thang, we love you!

Awful customer service.

I had a boot fitting appointment 2 weeks ago and I was turned away at the door since they forgot that I had an appointment. After laughing about forgetting my appointment John made me wait for 2 hours before I was seen. Again, this was NOT a walk in.

1 party was seen before me even though they entered the store 45 minutes after me. John‘s excuse was because it was “store policy“ since these folks had bought skiis from the shop the day before. It is a terrible store policy to treat certain customers better than others for the sole purpose of how much profit was made on one customer over the other. When I confronted John about this, he proceeded to laugh it off and say that “it totally wasn’t because the other customers gave him a $100 tip”.

After a party cut me, I was made aware that I was not being helped right away because there were more “urgent projects” that needed to be made by an 8 AM deadline that was the next day. When confronted about this, I was gaslit by John when he told me that “I am putting off urgent projects for you”, regardless of the fact that I had an appointment with him 2 hours prior.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had, and I definitely will not be coming back here again.
