Visited the shop during a short trip to watch my son in a sports tournament. I wanted to fish and Austin was incredibly friendly and very helpful. He wasn’t a salesman pushing gear, and gave helpful advice on where I could find some success and the flies I might be able to use. I’d 100% go back to this shop anytime I’m in town. They have a ton of nice equipment and plenty of flies. They’re very friendly and aren’t worried about gate keeping info from those that want to enjoy fishing. I’ve been to shops in Colorado and one in London that were very elitist and really quite rude. Here I felt welcomed and appreciated how I was treated. It’s the type of place I’ll go back to when I’m in town, one I’ll recommend to others, and the type of shop you hope finds a lot of success. Thanks for the positive vibes and discussion Austin!

Wow! I stopped in to pick up a few flies and was blown away by the hospitality of Miles, the store owner. He was friendly, funny, and professional, and generously shared his fishing knowledge and local insights. The store has everything a fly fisherman needs. I also have to mention that the decor and merchandise were spot on; I wish I could have spent all day there!

Best Fly Shop In Tahoe Area,

Scotty and the crew are awesome, he hooked me up with great gear and a trip like nothing els.

Went as a newly started fly fisherman, must say Scotty spent at least 2h with me chatting about what to get, how to catch fish, what to rig and how.

This was an absolutely wonderful store. Staff was bright, knowledgeable and eager. Answered all of our questions, gave us great tips on good spots and ideal gear and even taught me a few extra knots. Couldn’t recommend it enough and will certainly be back. Thanks for being wonderful, so rare to find staff like this these days.

If you're ever fishing in the Truckee area, Trout Creek Outfitters is a must stop. Both times I've made my way up to the Truckee River/Little Truckee River (last summer & yesterday) Miles and Austin shared the best places to fish and right flies to use. Caught plenty of fish with the knowledge they provided. 5/5 stars for this great shop.
