I've been a customer of Helton Tire for 9 years, and they have always taken great care of my vehicle. Their customer service has been excellent on every visit. On my most recent visit, which was for a routine oil change, they discovered a tire was going flat, and repaired it for me. Helton Tire and Offroad with its original crew was once a great shop but now that’s not the case. I have a little over 10k in receipts for parts for a OBS 7.3 truck built that ultimately never happened and I had to pull it out of Helton’s shop. My tires I had ordered for my build somehow disappeared (about $1800). I was told by Colt that they would reorder and i would have them soon, that he knew I was owed a set of tires. Fast forward to when the tires were supposed to come it and gives me the excuse that FedEx didn’t show two days in a row. I have nothing but great things to say about the original staff but i wouldn’t trust Colt with a single penny. All he does is lie and intentionally try to rip people off. One of his employees made it right so I didn’t get screwed over on the tires. I also have another 4K in receipts where they completely redid my Ford Ranger underneath and within 6 months the entire front end fell apart. . No alignment pins in the control arm, and passenger side was hand tight.unless you want to get the run around and get rippped off I suggest you go anywhere but Helton, Colt is not to be trusted

Helton tire is the best tire store I have been to. The service I received was exceptional. I had an oil change and tire rotation. After calling multiple shops in the area. Helton tire was the best price I found. They are friendly and treat you like family. This will be the only tire shop I will use. I would recommend it to everyone.

Helton tire is my go-to for tire service. They’ve also taken care of a few other repairs that were needed over time. I’ve used them multiple times for different things and their prices are always competitive and fair. I’ve always felt cared for and about as a customer. Think Chic-fil-a, but as a tire and auto repair center. They really seem to have the customer’s best interest in mind when offering a service.

This is difficult for me to write because I do like the folks that work there.

While the customer service in terms of interaction is good and the professionalism was fine, the quality of their work has declined. My truck went into limp mode and showed several error codes. I agreed to extensive repairs, but during the process, they kept finding additional issues or recommending more work. I’m unsure if these recommendations were necessary since I wasn’t there, but I can say the work was poorly done.

When I picked up my vehicle, I immediately noticed a burning smell. While I understand some burn-off can occur after certain repairs, the smell never went away. When I asked the original mechanic about it, he mentioned my vehicle had several leaks, which I’m certain it did not have prior to the repair. I’ve never needed to add oil between oil changes, and my vehicle didn’t burn oil before.

After a few months of the smell persisting and oil oozing from the solenoid valves, which were part of the original repair, I called the shop. The person I spoke with speculated that the oil pump was over-pressurizing, causing the problem. This made me suspicious that they might try to charge me for unnecessary repairs again.

I took the truck to a trusted mechanic, a friend who runs one of the busiest shops in Knoxville, Tennessee, with an excellent reputation. It turns out that when Helton replaced my valve covers, particularly the one on the passenger side, they damaged some seals during installation, which caused all the issues. The problem is now resolved, and I won’t be returning to Helton Tire and Auto for future repairs.

I value supporting local businesses, but charging dealer prices without performing the work correctly is far from great service.
