We live in Austin and purchased a guitar (an early 70s D-35) for a friend in VA who was looking to surprise her husband with a once-in-a-lifetime guitar. Derek was beyond helpful and had no problem with the convoluted nature of the purchase. The purchase was in our name and then shipped to our friend. The transaction was seamless and flawless. Derick was an absolute pleasure to work with! I found the guitar on Reverb, we messaged a couple times, made one phone call and worked out the details to ship out of state. Absolutely the best!!! I first purchased from Derick in 2007. A few years later I decide to upgrade my collection. At that time I had 75 guitars. Now I've thinned it down to 39. Of those 27 are from Lovies. Easy to deal with. All sales were trades or cash. I was never disappointed in description or speed of delivery and expert packing. I would much rather shop at a nice private store like this with an honest crew that a big box store that has fingerprints on every guitar hanging in their shop, thus selling new for used. I also don't have to listen to cranked up amps playing Stairway to Heaven, Smoke on the Water or Freebird all at the same time while music is also blasting from overhead speakers. So, if you want dusty used guitars that are selling at new prices, go somewhere else. You will also find more variety at Lovies that other stores would have to order if they even knew what they were.

I picked up a used custom shop Gibson ES-339 from Derick. It was a 2007 model, the first year it was made. Derek was a great help and the guitar is beautiful. I've taken it around to my band's lead guitarist and he is really impressed. (I had a hard time taking it away from him at the end of the evening!)
I really recommend Derick and Lovies Guitars.
