It's a solid shop with good gear and knowledgeable staff that's ready to help you out! I also think that their rental service is solid! In fact, the K2 EST snowboards that they use for rental boards are so good for what they are that I decided to purchase one! I got it off of outandbackoutdoor.com for just $50 (they had an 86% off sale for it)! It's not the best board, but it's good enough, and I got my complete setup for just $286 total (board, boots, bindings, AND my board getting a premium edge sharpening plus waxing job)! This almost certainly wouldn't have happened if not for the great experience I had with the K2 EST 160 cm boards I rented from this place! They also helped me fully realize my binding angle preferences too (15-18 degree range on both bindings)! The only reason I'm not giving a five star is because for some reason they don't sell snowboard gear which bums me out (and also confuses me because Evo Portland is not far from this shop at all and sells both snowboard and ski gear AND more). Anyways, I hope this helps people!

I love the Mountain Shop and I have been a customer for about 18 years. I would have left a 5 star review up until about the last year… maybe two. Sadly, customer service has lost its edge. I’m not implying that I deserve the best customer service or bend-over-backwards treatment but the last couple of times I have asked for assistance solving issues, I haven’t even received a callback. In years past, as a customer, I felt like the crew wanted to see me leave stoked and happily return. Now, it feels as if they don’t even want me in the shop. The times I have ventured in I was met with an attitude of we are too busy and don’t have time to answer any questions. I genuinely can tell these folks, whom I do not know well like some I have known in the past, are fantastic humans who love wild places. I’m just not so sure that is allowed to shine through for some reason.?

I recently tried to order boots they did not have in stock, and I was told I would have better luck ordering them online. Maybe this was an attempt to be helpful, but it wasn’t. They promised to call back, and never did.

I’m not requesting anything and bummed to send this review. I have loved the service of many folks there historically, but I doubt I will venture through those doors again for fear of being treated like I shouldn’t have.

I hope this review finds listening ears and looks hard at their mission, or even revamp it or ignores completely because the majority of customers are content. I can live with that. But please note you have been a gem in our climbing community over many years and it would be nice to high-five again. Peace and love.

Made an appointment for a new ski boot fitting and was lucky enough to get Rob as my technician. I learned today that skiing doesn't have to be painful! Rob was very thorough and scientific about the boot fitting experience and recommend him to beginners and expert skiers alike!

I had a ski boot fitting with Mike here. I have one "weird" foot that makes almost any pair of ski boots impossible to be comfortable, especially out of the box, more especially a pair of tight fitting, stiff race boots. He took a lot of time and care making sure all the points in the shell that were an issue were punched out properly, and there were no "hot spots". I'm super happy with the service and attention to detail making sure I got a good fit. All for a very reasonable price! Highly recommend!

I walked in for a snow pass and was warmly welcomed. The lovely staff that helped me shop for ras gortex shoes, and Harry who is a ski legend chatting with me made me feel that these are my people. They are having a killer sale on splitboards and bindings!!!

The mountain shop is my go-to place for rentals, boot work, and climbing gear. Anytime I’ve rented gear, pickup/drop off has been quick and easy. They are often the most affordable rental shop in town and have quality gear to choose from. After trying several shops, the mountain shop is where I’ve landed.

I’ve had boot work done by Brad, Mike, and Rob and each has patiently worked with me in modifying my boots. I’m an ex-ski racer and have worked with many boot fitters over the years; it’s rare to find multiple people at the same shop who I trust with boot mods. Even with a small hiccup with a modification, the mountain shop went above and beyond in fixing the problem.

I recommend the mountain shop to all my ski/climbing friends, coworkers, and family!

I came in to rent equipment, and the staff were very friendly and made sure everything fit before sending me on my way. I found the pricing for rentals to be very reasonable. I also happened to come in during their annual ‘garage sale’ and found some really good stuff at a great price!

Very helpful, friendly staff. Great selection of ultra-light gear that big stores like REI don’t carry.
