This is a gorgeous spot that is supposed to be publicly accessible. The iron fence with barbed wire and intense signage makes visitors feel unwelcome. If you arrive when the driveway gate is locked, you can just open the walk-through gate to the left to access the lighthouse and trail down to a beautiful beach area.

This place was amazing. The area to the beach is public. Our group stayed at the house in the back. It's really affordable for a big group. Just need to figure out how to access the beach area if I am not staying at the Hostel. Where can I park?

Not a big deal to access. The large gate is for guest vehicle access. There is a small gate for public walk-in access to the left. There is a sign on the small gate with a QR code, and one on the sign just inside. It links to the IH website, where you can complete the waiver form. Then a short walk to the light.

Cool place, especially for large groups. Great scenery and alright lodging and bathrooms. Mattresses are comfy, beds are creaky, living room and kitchen space are a decent size.

We typically use this as a resting or lunch spot as we hike up from Pillar Point Harbor. Really a great scenic area overlooking Point Montara and some interesting, historical information. There is a hostel located here. Good place for a 30-45 minute stop to enjoy some scenery and a little maritime history.
