My entire experience with Todd Fink and Recapitate Headwear was perhaps the most attentive, warm, responsive, and service-oriented interaction that I can recall having in the context of a business transaction. The first interaction I had was on New Years Eve around 5pm (it felt like a long shot, but google indicated they were open and I was really itching to find a good hat so my girlfriend and I took a swing). It was immediately apparent that they were not open but Todd happened to see us pull in and came out to greet us despite hosting company at the moment. I apologized for interrupting and explained the circumstance and he insisted that we come into his shop/workspace and proceeded to open it up to us. As fellow makers/creatives, we were both thrilled and eager to see more. He took measurements, asked what I was seeking, showed us his work process/inventory, and generally shared his passion for making beautiful hats in a broad variety of classic and unique styles. Although he didn't have the exact style I was seeking in my particular head size/shape, he informed me how to best proceed with making that happen via his website and custom options. I departed his shop more excited than ever to purchase a hat and knew without a doubt it would be from Todd and Recapitate. After some time passed and I had sufficiently browsed his site to solidify my style preferences (I tend to be overly detail-oriented as you can surmise from this review), I reached out to Todd to clarify some details and then placed my order. He continued to be extremely communicative, helpful, and prompt. After about a month, I received my custom hat and I could not be happier with it. From the moment I put it on, it felt like home. The size, shape, feel, and aesthetic elements were exactly what I hoped for. If you are reluctant about spending a considerable amount on a hat, I'll just say that it was completely worth the cost in my opinion. After all, it is also an original hand made art piece. From the customer service, to the unique style offerings, to the comfort and fit, to the attention to detail, and made locally by a genuine and talented artist -- It all carries a lot of value and in retrospect I think it was a great deal! Thanks again Todd and keep up the amazing work. Already thinking about what additional style of hat I might want from Recapitate.
