Tahoe Forest Hospice Gift & Thrift

While I was browsing, I found it unpleasant listening to the woman working talking poorly about other thrift stores to another guest in the store. When I approached with a cross that was unmarked, with some slight damage I informed her it was unmarked but I saw another cross that was... couldn't get the words out of my mouth before she shouted THREE DOLLARS! I finished my sentence politely "... Two dollars". She said with hostility in her voice, "the one that slides open" I said I didn't notice while I was pulling out cash. I didn't want to inconvenience the non-profit with the credit/debit card fees, but only had $2. I told her I only have two dollars and she shouted back, "Sorry!" I was very put off by the whole experience. I'm thinking she might need the presence of Jesus's cross more than I do. I simply left, trying to shake off the hostile energy and as I drove, I prayed for her. Perhaps she is unhappy spending her time there and worried about other things. I hope others can have a better experience, but there are thrift stores in town with nicer people that I have found less costly items over the last week. I got four beautiful curtains panels from World Market at the new Pet Network Thrift store in Christmas Tree Village for only $12! I suggest you check the new shop out, and has very friendly unpaid Volunteers. I will avoid thrifting here at Tahoe Forest Thrift in Incline; the one in Truckee has much nicer people and more of a selection, maybe she can learn some service to others from them. Visited on Tuesday afternoon.

Must drive back on Tanager to get to front door. It’s on the back of the building if you enter from Starbucks. Must drive around. Very clean, reasonable prices, nice staff.

First time to visit Incline Hospice Thrift on April 13, and the shop girl said she was closing for lunch and we had 6 minutes to look. Seriously!? Who takes lunch breaks when customers walk in to shop? She needs to learn customer service 101. This is Tahoe.
