I never had a chance to step foot into the office. I confirmed the office received my referral July 2024 and spoke to the scheduler three times with promises that I would soon be receiving a call for a pre-screening. Fast forward Mid-August 2024 I was told by office staff that they never received my referral and that I would need to resend the referral. I am seeking care else where. This seems like it would not be a good fit for me.

So far my experience has been positive. I was given an appointment only a week out. When I went to the appointment the office staff was cordial and I was seen on time. Only negative was I felt the time spent with me felt a bit hurried though all my questions were answered. I have a follow-up appointment so we will see how it goes ... overall I would say it's been a positive experience.

I have been waiting to write this review, as I am still in the middle of my medical journey with this office- and this probably won’t help me get the care I have been waiting for, but I hope it helps so that no one else has to go through this. I am in my early 30s and have been vomiting (now-up to) 50-75% of what I eat and drink (including water) for the last 6 or so months. It took me MONTHS to get a consultation with a nurse practitioner and then they scheduled me for an upper endoscopy 5 months later.. it wasn’t until I called back and told them how horrible my quality of life was getting that they moved it up to 1 month away- which I did appreciate. I had my upper endoscopy 3.5 weeks ago and it was determined that I needed another exploratory procedure to determine how to move forward . After fasting all day for the upper endoscopy I went home and was non stop vomiting for hours, I couldn’t keep any fluids in and ended up in the ER, passing out from dehydration in the waiting room and needing 2 bags of IV. Dr Riegler’s reaction to this when my family member called to inform him was that I was “probably just anxious.”…
It has been three and a half weeks since then of calling their office a couple of times a week to schedule the next procedure. First I was told the order was sent to twin and to call Twin directly to schedule My appt.. I called and they had not received the order, Riegler’s office sent it a second time and once again it never made it.. the nice scheduling person at Twin gave me a fax number and told me to check that they had the correct number.. turns out they were sending it to the wrong department.. I gave CCG the correct fax number that was given to me and was told by CCG to call Twin (again) to schedule. Twin had received it but informed me that so the my type of insurance, I had to go to French hospital.. The response from CCG was “oh yes that’s right, ok we will send the order to French, call them tomorrow to make sure they received it and to schedule.” The next day I called French hospital and they had no idea where to transfer me because I am a patient and they schedule manometry tests with the doctors office as they need to know the doctors availability first. The nicest nurse at French was so wonderful and supportive and felt so bad that central coast gastroenterology was sending me on this wild goose chase trying to make an appt.
I have called CCG 3 times this week trying to advocate for myself.
They know that I have had 4 upper endoscopy’s since the age of 16 due to esophageal and indigestion issues (2 through their office), they know that my mom survived stage 4 esophageal cancer and has tested positive for the mutyh genetic colorectal/gastro cancer risk, they are aware that I have been vomiting most of what I eat and drink for months and that I feel weak all of the time but have a physical job and am also a mom.. i have only written a few reviews in my life and they were positive ones for places that I thought deserved a high praise.. I am tired and I am frustrated- leading me this review.
The only good thing I can say is that the nurses I had before my procedure were so kind, attentive and great at their jobs- I feel terrible that they have to be associated with these low reviews on google.

I too feel that the office is disorganized. Getting an appointment seemed to be a struggle. Got on schedule, then got bumped (by phone message) less than 24 hours before my procedure. Difficulty getting the specific prescription my Dr. ordered on time. No one returns calls! Dr. Arjal was very professional.
Lots of confusion with office staff. Mixed messages.

Was diagnosed with an infection in my colon. I am going through a lot of pain and just want to get to the root of my problem. Called in for an appointment and was told of bunch of excuses as why they couldn’t give me an appointment. Super rude! I am not calling to make an appointment just for fun. I have paperwork from the hospital.

This office / medical group should be absolutely ashamed of itself. After waiting the nearly 6 weeks they scheduled me out for an appointment with only their NP for excruciating upper abdominal pain that my GP couldn’t figure out, their office calls me the day before my appointment and says their canceling my appointment because at some point 5 years prior I had seen one of the other doctors in their practice once for a procedure my GP had ordered. Therefore I’m not allowed to see anyone else in their practice of multiple locations drs and NPs ever without that one Drs permission. Not to mention that one particular Doctor (Dr Riegler) didn’t have an available appointment for 3 months. The scheduler that called had zero compassion to the fact that I’ve been in such debilitating pain for over 3 months, all she could tell me was that the Drs “don’t like it” when you see a different dr in their the practice. I could reschedule with that Dr which would have been another 4 weeks out or just cancel. I chose the later. I ended up finding a very kind GP in Santa Barbara county and that would be my advice to any and all people considering this practice drive north or south or even east but don’t go with them. Because they obviously don’t care one bit about the well being of their patients, if they did they wouldn’t treat them like this.

I have left 5 messages over the course of 10 days to have an office staff call me regarding my husband's consultation appointment in Templeton. I cannot get anyone to return my calls.

Dr. Riegler misdiagnosed me with Celiac Disease two years ago after performing an upper endoscopy. After a year of not eating gluten and still not feeling any better, I asked if there was any tests I could do such as a genetic test and he dismissed that idea. He performed another upper endoscopy. I ended up going to a doctor recommended to me by a friend at UCLA who was immediately concerned I didn’t have Celiac and ordered a genetic test. The results showed there was no way I could have had Celiac Disease. This is a lifelong disease with serious dietary restrictions and I’m very disappointed in this doctor’s misdiagnosis. Also, the main office receptionist was extremely rude and uncooperative on the phone when I was trying to get my biopsy for transfer to UCLA. Dr. Riegler should really consider getting up to date with current Celiac diagnosis protocol such as using the Marsh score.
