Backcountry is great - love their products. We had a great experience today, super friendly staff that helped us pick the size for my brother-in-law because the staff was very similar size. He even offered to put the sweatshirt on to show us sizing. And found a box that would work for me to wrap it in. Very successful gift trip.

I've been helped by the folks at The Backcountry Truckee several times (bindings, boots and the odd hardware to attach a beacon to my pants), and I find their passion, service and desire to help others explore the backcountry simply great.

This has become my dedicated shop for everything ski touring (keep in mind they do other things like climbing and bikes).

I’ve been shopping at The Backcountry in Truckee for over 25 years. Mike has built an amazing culture. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Cheapskate that I am, they’ve helped me select the right gear and keep it rolling for many years. You may be able to find cheaper prices on some random website, but if you want help from someone who is out there using the gear, look no further.

Ellis was extremely helpful! The first gentleman we spoke with introduced us to Ellis to help us select rock climbing gear, rope, caribeaners and a sling. Ellis took a lot of time to offer us different options and helped us figure out what would suit us best. We also got a guide book he suggested. We purposefully went here because the staff is so knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Really nice store & Logan who helped me was awesome. I am new to Cross-country skiing and had a lot of questions. He was very patient, friendly, helpful & I didn't feel judged at all. I know a lot of people up here know there stuff & I just moved up here & was looking to invest in new equipment. It can be a bit daunting. Thanks for making me feel comfortable.

Wow! I had the BEST experience at The BackCountry!!! Every single member of the team was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and totally rad! An extra huge shout out to Danny, who went above and beyond in every aspect to help me with my ski boots so that I could get back on the slopes pain-free and with a big smile on my face 😄 Danny patiently and with an incredible amount of care answered all of my burning questions, and not only provided me with a boot adjustment that will drastically change my skiing trajectory, but shared invaluable knowledge that has forever transformed how I will engage with this winter sport. Danny’s thoughtfulness, outstanding expertise, and heart-centered approach to serving all those who come through The BackCountry’s doors at the highest level has converted me into a raving fan and life-time customer of this shop (this man deserves a raise!). Awesome gear selection and huge inventory. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Superb customer service. They offered to mount my bindings in a few hrs, while I waited, saving me another long trip back to pick em up! This was much appreciated. Way to go Backcountry Tahoe!
